EXPLORATION LOG
Millbrook Correctional Centre
July 20th, 2009
Our group quickly enters a small abandoned house a few hundred meters from the prison and stop to scope the area out for security, there’s an eerie lack of activity in the area and we’re not sure what to expect. Waiting a couple of minutes we walk toward the prison wondering just how we plan to infiltrate the beast... Read More →
Alma College
January 14th, 2009
We parked the car near the side of the college on a residential street; all that separates the two of us from the property is a set of railroad tracks and some tall weeds. There is no perimeter fence and a well traveled trail leads straight to the building, besides that the only other security measures are the occasional ‘no trespassing’ notice posted on the side of building. This will be difficult for sure. Read More →
Holley High School
January 3rd, 2009
With some slight delays with traffic, the border, and generally awful directions from our GPS we were starting to run a tad bit late. We pulled into Holley around 5:30 and lucky for us the school isn’t that hard to find, the building is a massive centre piece of the village and stands three storeys tall; in the front of the building is a huge auditorium with tall columns and old Christmas decorations that I’m sure have been fixed to front façade since the buildings closure... Richardson Mine
December 10th, 2008
Bryan, Trains and I were driving toward Harcourt in search of a mine I had a read about online. We didn’t have a lot of details about the mine, only a vague description and an even vaguer whereabouts, this was a complete shot in the dark and a 130 km detour on our drive home. Read More →
Stelwire
October 22nd, 2008
On Thanksgiving the explorers Trains and I were driving through Burlington looking for a large factory under demolition after reading a tip online. It wasn’t long before we spotted the factory, construction crews absent and demolition well underway. The two of us got out and did a quick walk around the fence to see if we could spot security or any workers... Read More →
Stelco Number 2 Rod Mill
October 9th, 2008
One evening I answered my door to see Arc Tangent and Stewie standing on my porch, two Hamilton explorers, neither of which could drive, in the middle of the suburbs. What’s going on here? They tell me Watson’s in the car and we’re going to pick up Shiroi and then head to Hamilton, there’s something I absolutely have to see... Read More →
Manuel Noriega's Beach House
September 19th, 2008
Just a short walk from the resort was an abandoned beach house once owned by General Manuel Noriega, former military dictator of Panama. Since the Invasion of Panama in the late 1980’s (when the United States removed Noriega from power) Noriega’s beach home has sat derelict, a haven for insects, lizards, bats, fungus, plant life, and the occasional party... Camp Bison
August 27th, 2008
About 30 minutes south of Sudbury rests the former town of Burwash, a secluded village along highway 69 that you probably wouldn’t think twice about as you pass it by. However Burwash still contains a hidden gem from its days as a bustling prison farm, Camp Bison’s building 5... Read More →
Physical Culture Hotel
May 20th, 2007
As we make our way through town we see lawn chairs littering the side of the roads and children’s laughter filling the air, a parade route seems to be established and the festivities begin, this isn’t why we’re here but it’s an unexpected surprise and welcome distraction. We drive past the local festivities and up a hill promptly leaving the valley before Logan tells us to pull off to the gravel shoulder and park the car, we’re close... Read More →
Procor Limited
January 23rd, 2007
The Procor plant in Oakville was always believed to be undeniably active as it's one of Oakville's largest businesses, it is one of Canada's leading manufacturers of tank and freight cars (a subsidiary of Union Tank Car), however one day when I drove by I noticed the exterior looked rather neglected... NEW EXPLORATION LOG
Bunge
August 6th, 2009
As we almost went around the entire property we couldn't help but think everything looks quiet and strangely unsecured, there wasn’t even barbed wire on the fences for christ's sake. Just as we get prepared to jump a fence to get a closer look a security guard walks by... Read More →
